Culture is Literacy-Who we are
Our Mission
Culture is Literacy’s mission is to celebrate culture as a form of literacy—one that heals, teaches, and transforms. Through our podcast, products, and community presence, we honor Black and Brown stories while challenging systems that silence them. Every product and story is rooted in resistance, ritual, restoration, and racial healing.
Our Vision
Culture is Literacy’s vision is to be a beacon of cultural and racial awareness that helps shift mindsets, transform communities, and inspire healing. We envision a world where cultural knowledge is valued as intellectual power and integrated into everyday life—in classrooms, homes, and hearts. At the core of our vision is the commitment to racial healing through the deconstruction of societal norms and the celebration of cultural identity.
The Creator
Danielle Hughes
As a African American mother, wife, educator, and equity-driven school leader, I created Culture is Literacy from the deep need to challenge systemic assimilation, honor cultural identity, and provide products and platforms that center us—not marginalize us. This is more than a brand—it's a movement toward racial healing and collective liberation.
